Parveen Mahmud is the Chairman, Underprivileged Children EducationProgram (UCEP) – Bangladesh.She is a chartered accountant. Ms. Mahmud in her diversified professional career, worked substantial time with national and international development agencies. Started her career with BRAC, served as Deputy Managing Director of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), and was the Founding Managing Director of the Grameen Telecom Trust.
She was Partner, ACNABIN & Co., Chartered Accountants. In 2011, she was first woman President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), and also, the first female board member and of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), apex accounting professional body of SAARC. She was also the first President among SAFA professional bodies. She was the Founding Chairperson of CA Female Forum- Women in Leadership Committee, ICAB and was the Vice Chairperson of the Women in Leadership Committee of SAFA till 2019.
She sits in numerous Boards including Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bishsho Shahitto Kendrp (BSK), BRAC International, PKSF, RDRS, Manusher Jonnyo Foundation (MJF), Ghashful, Friendship, HerStory Foundation, Moner Bondhu, Heroes for All, Cider International School, Grameen Health Care Services, Grameen Shamogree. She is the Independent Director of Marico Bangladesh, Apex Footwear Ltd. and Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. She was the Chairperson, Shasha Denims Ltd., Micro Industries Development and Assistance Services (MIDAS) and Acid Survivor’s Foundation.
Mr Mahmud is life member of Chittagong Maa o Shishu Hospital, “WORK FOR DISABLED”, Chittagong Lions Foundation and Donor Member of Lions Education Trust. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow and served two terms as President of the Lions Club of Chittagong Parijat Elite.
Ms Mahmud served as a member of the National Advisory Panel and was Convener, SME Women’s Forum for SME Development of Bangladesh, and was a Founding Board Member of SME Foundation. Ms. Mahmud was a Working Group Member of the Consultative Group on Social Indicators of UNCTAD/ISAR.
She is the Zone Chairperson and Imm Past President, Lions Club of Chittagong Parijat Elite, Lions Club International, District 315- B4, Bangladesh and a Melvin Jones Fellow. Ms. Parveen Mahmud has few accolades for her services and contribution to the society including Chittagong Digest Award in 2020, Ananyanna Top Ten Women-2018 Award in 2019, Joya Alokit Nari 2018 Award from RTV and Begum Rokeya Shining Personality Award 2006 from Narikantha Foundation, Commonwealth Secretariat has identified her as path breaking South Asian women and made a case study in – Championing Women – published in the UK by Palgrave Macmillan, a division of Macmillan Publishers Limited in 2015.
